Three Keys to Success

1. Score, Score Score

The Rangers are going to need to score runs. The 2014 pitching staff allowed a lot of runs and there is no sign that the 2015 edition will be different. Luckily, Texas has the offensive pieces in place to put people on and bring the home. Health will be key. If Prince Fielder, Elvis Andrus, Adrian Beltre and Shin-Soo Choo can stay health all season, the Rangers will score with the best of them, which should keep them in plenty of games.

2. Limit and control the damage

As stated, the Ranger rotation is going to get hit. The key will be defensive play that limits the damage those hits cause. It’ll start behind the plate with Robinson Chirinos, putting pitchers in positions where they don’t have to take many chances with pitches. After that, the speed of Leonys Martin in center field will be key.

3. Stay the course

The AL West is arguably the flakiest division in baseball. The Angels have star-power, but an injury here or there will bring them right back to the pack. If the Rangers can score runs, limit damage and hang around until August, there is a slight chance they could find themselves in the middle of a three or even four team race for the division. Crazier things have happened in recent years.
