After being acquired by the Detroit Pistons at the trade deadline, Reggie Jackson is excited about the Pistons future.

When the Detroit Pistons acquired Reggie Jackson from the Oklahoma City Thunder, some considered it a risky move. Jackson, a restricted free agent, is going to get paid in the off-season and whether or not he would want to stay in Detroit is up in the air.

It appears that the move is paying off for the Pistons and Jackson, as Jackson is excited about his new home.

He is also excited about the potential of the back-court featuring him and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Speaking to mlive.com, Jackson discussed the road ahead for him and Caldwell-Pope.

"“We want to be one of the best backcourts in the league,” Jackson said. “We know we’ve got a long way to go. But we are young and we’ve got a chance to do so.”"

Together, Jackson and Caldwell-Pope are one of the youngest duos in the NBA. With Jackson only 24-years-old and Caldwell-Pope only 22-years-old, the Pistons and their fans have a lot to be excited about.

The two complement each other on the court with their styles of play, and it allows each other to play off one another successfully.

The Pistons have won five of their last six games and the combination of Jackson and Caldwell-Pope have been key in the Pistons success.

Each guard has averaged over 20 points a game in that stretch. Jackson is also averaging an incredible 11.8 assists per game during that stretch.

While many were worried in Detroit whether or not Jackson would re-sign with the team in the summer, his comments sure sound like a guy that wants to remain with the Pistons.

The Pistons have some exciting pieces in their build toward the future with Jackson, Caldwell-Pope and Andre Drummond. They will also have a decent lottery pick in this year’s draft to add to their core.

The team will have to decide what to do with soon-to-be free agent Greg Monroe. With the team having a strong post presence in Andre Drummond, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Detroit let Monroe walk in favor of a player to stretch the floor.

They will also have the question of what to do with Brandon Jennings once he returns from his torn Achilles. Now that the team has Jackson, there may not be room for Jennings on the roster.

The good news for Detroit is that they have an exciting back-court for the future.
