The Brooklyn Nets had a strange halftime on Sunday, which seems to suggest their season is nearing a merciful end.

A classic staple of sporting events that involve bad teams has always been elaborate and often wacky halftime shows to keep the fans entertained during a break in the action. Most are forgettable, but there are a very select few that border on such absurdity that it makes you remember what you just saw.

Halftime acts often feature mascots, dancers, unicycle riders, guys using trash cans on drums, dogs racing and other off-the-wall acts that people can think of.

Sunday in Brooklyn, the Nets had what appeared to be a halftime show honoring Chinese tradition.

As many people sat in the Barclays Center for the showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and their hometown Nets, they saw a show that featured people in dragon costumes and guys banging on drums.

The act was considered a celebration of Chinese culture, which is very rampant throughout New York. It even featured a thing called a “Lion Dance.”

The NBA and their teams honor the various cultures around the game including Latin Nights and other celebrations.

The Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors each had special Chinese New Year uniforms this season to celebrate the Chinese Culture.

While the halftime show may have been strange to some, it was a time-honored tradition for the Chinese culture.
