With the Rockets squaring off against the Raptors in a tight contest without Dwight Howard, Capela had some impressive plays on the court.
Early in the game he threw down a highlight reel slam between Patrick Patterson and Lou Williams.
Later on in the game, Capela threw another one down on Patterson.
The first time, Patterson got out of the way of Capela. The second time, he tried to contest the rookie at the rim, but it was to no avail as Capela finished off another impressive slam with one hand.
While many were watching the battle between James Harden and DeMar DeRozan, it was Capela who was quietly establishing himself as a young post presence.
Coming off the bench, Capela provided the Rockets with a steady presence as he crashed the boards and made some nice plays offensively.
If the Rockets want to win the West, they’re going to need Dwight Howard healthy. However, it’s good news for Houston that they have a young center blossoming behind him.
