The Los Angeles Clippers had a stern message after their road trip

The NBA playoffs are only a couple of weeks away from now, and the Los Angeles Clippers seem to have things going at the right time.

More from Los Angeles Clippers

They were about to hold down the fort while one of their stars, Blake Griffin, missed 15 games due to injury – and although they lost his first game back – they have now won seven games in a row and don’t show any signs of slowing down.

Today wrapped up a three-game road trip with a 119-106 victory over the Boston Celtics, and the team had a simple – yet effective – message after the game.

You can’t blame them. After all, there’s no place like home.

At 49-25, the Clippers are currently locked in as the 5-seed in the Western Conference – but things could get much better for them (or even worse if things go wrong). The Golden State Warriors have locked up the top seed in the West with their 60-13 record, but the second-sixth seeds are completely up for grabs. The Memphis Grizzlies are the 2-seed right now, but they are only two-games ahead of the Clippers. It’s quite impressive just how tight the West in. The Grizzlies have been great all year, but they are only one bad week away from doing something crazy like dropping to the sixth spot.

Of course, the Clippers can’t worry about anyone else. They have eight games left on their schedule, and it’s not crazy to think they could win them all and end the regular season on a 15-game winning streak. They will have tough games against the Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers and Grizzlies, but after those teams it is pretty easy walking for them: four games against the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets and one game against the Phoenix Suns.

It will be important for the Clippers to move up in the playoffs because if the season ended today, the Clippers would open the postseason on the road against the Trail Blazers – and that’s a tough task against anyone. Although the Blazers have two less wins (but the same amount of losses) than the Clippers, they are ranked above of them since they will win their division (Warriors have obviously won the Clippers’). The Clippers and Trail Blazers will end their season series this Wednesday, and the former has a 2-1 lead over the latter.

The Clippers are going to be a handful for whoever has to play them in the playoffs. Yes, basketball is a team sport (See: San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks), but it sure doesn’t hurt to have star players playing at an elite level come postseason time. DeAndre Jordan remains to be a complete monster this year and is averaging 11.3 points (71 percent shooting), 14.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks on the season. Griffin will need some time to get back into his groove after missing a long stretch, but he has been good in his eight games back: 16.9 points (50 percent shooting), 7.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists. That’s a front court you don’t want to play against.

Oh, and no mention of Chris Paul yet? He’s been doing his normal CP3 thing by murdering the season: 18.8 points (48 percent shooting), 10.1 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.

That’s a Big Three that can do some serious damage in the playoffs.
