The Washington Nationals are very, very good.

More from MLB

The team from DC led the National League in victories during the 2014 season, earning the top seed in the NL Playoffs, but Washington has been unable to break through in the postseason. To this point, the Nats have generally been accepted as a “team on the rise”, but with arguably the best roster in the Major Leagues from top to bottom, the 2015 campaign will be an important one for Matt Williams and his club.

The talent is abundant, the division sets up to be arguably the worst in baseball, and the stage is set for the Nationals. However, the 2015 season must be played, and without further ado, let’s take a look at Washington’s club, beginning with how they finished the 2014 campaign.

2014 Capsule

Record: 96-66

WAR leader (Position Players): Anthony Rendon – 6.5

WAR leader (Pitchers): Jordan Zimmermann – 5.3

Key moment: On October 4, the Washington Nationals lost an 18-inning thriller to the San Francisco Giants in Game 2 of the NLDS. This loss placed the Nats in a 2-0 hole in the series, and they would fall to the Giants in four games.
