NFL: Top positional need for all 32 teams
By Robby Sabo
Buffalo Bills
- 2014 Finish: 9-7, 2nd in AFC East
- Top Positional Need: Quarterback
How does Rex Ryan feel about his former employer these days?
When he first took the Jets job he possessed a phenomenal secondary with very little pass rush. Then, once his secondary left town he started building upfront.
Bills Quarterbacks:
- Matt Cassell
- E.J. Manuel
- Tyrod Taylor
- Jeff Tuel
Now, Maccagnan has taken that nearly $50 million in cap space that John Idzik didn’t use and created one sick defense.
Oh yeah, Ryan also took another job where the most important position on the field is missing: quarterback. Anyway, beggars can’t be choosers I guess.
Just like his former employer, the Bills selected a quarterback during the early rounds of the 2013 draft. Furthermore, that guy has struggled in a similar fashion as Geno Smith has.
It’s obvious the Buffalo Bills no longer trust E.J. Manuel. There’s new ownership in town which meant a complete overhaul of the front office and coaching staff. It also means Manuel is longer “anybody’s guy.”
Matt Cassell was brought in as a stopgap option, but creates more of a sad commentary rather than anything in the positive realm.
Buffalo could also use help by way of guard and now inside linebacker after Kiko Alonso was shipped to Philly. Not having a first-round pick in this draft will be a major blow.
