Cincinnati Reds to honor national champion Ohio State Buckeyes
By Alan Condon
Baseball season is less than a week away, and the Cincinnati Reds are set to honor the College Football Playoff national champions from Ohio State in a pregame ceremony.
The National League squad Cincinnati Reds will toast the Ohio State Buckeyes with the first ever Reds Country Athletic Achievement Award during pregame ceremonies at Great American Ball Park and head coach Urban Meyer will toss out the first pitch.

In addition to Meyer throwing out the first pitch, team members will be on the field to hold a giant American flag during the singing of the US National Anthem.
Both players and coaches will meet with fans during the first inning of the game and the national championship trophy will be featured along with Brutus Buckeye.
This may be a sight for sore eyes for Cincinnati Bearcat fans looking to enjoy an evening of baseball against division rivals Pittsburgh Pirates, but this is undoubtedly a way for Ohio State to further establish its presence in Cincinnati, where its fan base it not as potent.
Ohio State’s national championship team was also already honored by the Cleveland Cavaliers, with Ohio State fan LeBron James, during the offseason.
A charitable cause will also be added to the opening game as the Reds will donate $1 from each ticket sold to the Urban and Shelley Meyer Fund for Cancer Research, and a check for the total amount raised will be presented to the Meyers before the game begins.
