Terrence Jones embarrasses Carl Landry with 3 blocks in 4 seconds (Video)
Terrence Jones made a triumphant return to the Houston Rockets last night while playing with a heavy heart.
James Harden may have been the star of the Houston Rockets’ 115-111 win over the Sacramento Kings last night, but Terrence Jones was no slouch either.
In his first game back from a collapsed lung, Terrance Jones made a statement early on, getting up three nasty blocks on Kings forward Carl Landry in just four seconds.
The brief sequence of defensive prowess led to some intense words exchanged between the two players, and both were given technicals before the situation escalated any further. The unprecedented three swift rejections on Landry was just another moment in a triumphant return to action for the Rockets forward.
Earlier in the night he put this nasty spin move on DeMarcus Cousins to start a string of solid play:
Jones finished the night with a career-high seven blocks, as well as 16 points and seven boards. The Rockets power forward has battled injuries all season, missing the majority of the season with a scary nerve injury in his leg.
He clearly made his presence known last night however, while still battling a collapsed lung.
Jones may have been playing through physical pain, but playing with a heavy heart could be what inspired his outstanding performance.
He absolutely would have made his late uncle proud, a man who clearly made a strong impact on Jones’ life. Everybody has experienced losing a loved one, but to put on such a dominant show of performance in his honor is a truly great tribute.
Jones received an outpouring of support on social media from Houston Rockets and Kentucky Wildcats fans, where he played his college ball, as well as all across the NBA community.
Last night’s performance was an amazing display of perseverance for Jones, as he battled through both physically and emotionally. He clearly overcame everything though, feeding off of the adversity on his way to a career night.
Terrence Jones may not be the best player in the NBA and he may not be on the level as his MVP-candidate teammate James Harden, but his grit and determination was on full display last night. That’s the type of player the Rockets need and that’s the type of player who helps his team turn things around and into a championship season.
