AJ Lee retires from WWE

In a move that might not surprise a lot of people, AJ Lee has decided to retire from WWE
On Sunday night at WrestleMania 31, we saw AJ Lee and Paige take on the Bella Twins in a winning effort. Well, apparently, that was the last time that we will see AJ Lee on the grandest stage of them all.
Friday afternoon, WWE sent out this tweet announcing that AJ has decided to retire from WWE competition, ending one of the most successful runs of a Diva in the company’s history.
Again, it’s not like this was a move that people didn’t see coming at some point soon. AJ’s husband, CM Punk, is getting ready to venture off into his MMA career later this year, and as we all know, he’s not the biggest fan of WWE these days. It was only a matter of time before his wife decided to leave the life of the road in WWE and stay with him full-time. Well, apparently, that time was now.
Lee is a multi-time WWE Divas Champion and brought a unique presence to the division in WWE that not many people had seen in years. She was fantastic in the ring, great on the microphone and was a great ambassador for the company as well.
Since Punk left WWE, AJ Lee has been basically the female version of him, going off on some promo rants the likes of which we have never seen from females before. There’s no doubt that AJ was one of the best performers that the female division has seen in quite some time, and she’ll sorely be missed.
This might also explain why she went out there Monday night on RAW, her last appearance with the company on live TV, with a shirt that endorsed NXT female star Bayley. She’s always been an advocate for the females that never got a fair shake, and she wanted to maybe give one last endorsement.
Best of luck to AJ in whatever she chooses to do next.
