MLB: 10 best farm systems in baseball

7. Pittsburgh Pirates
Doesn’t it feel like Jameson Taillon has been around forever?
Well, the No. 2 pick in the 2010 draft is still only 23-years old and is coming back stronger than ever after missing 2014 with Tommy John.
Top Prospects:
- Tyler Glasnow, RHP (16)
- Jameson Taillon, RHP (29)
- Austin Meadows, OF (41)
- Josh Bell, OF/1B (64)
- Reese McGuire, C (97)
- Alen Hanson, MI
- Nick Kingham, RHP
- Cole Tucker, SS
- Mitch Keller, RHP
- Harold Ramirez, OF
Ace lefty Gerrit Cole could most definitely use a number two guy behind him in the rotation.
The pitching doesn’t stop there though. Tyler Glasnow is a highly-touted arm who threw to a 1.74 ERA and a 12-5 record in high Single-A Bradenton, Florida last season. He fanned 157 batters in only 124.1 IP.
Players like the aforementioned Cole, Gregory Polanco and Sterling Marte have now proven how consistent the Pirates have been with developing from within. The rest of baseball can finally claim the Pirates are entering the realm of “model organization” with the way they’ve done business over the last several seasons.
