3. Minnesota Twins

Fans of the Minnesota Twins had the pleasure of watching a consistent small market team execute flawlessly for so long.

Year after year, it was NL Central crown or bust under manager Ron Gardenhire.

Top Prospects:

  1. Byron Buxton, OF (2)
  2. Miguel Sano, 3B (13)
  3. Jose Berrios, RHP (36)
  4. Nick Gordon, SS (61)
  5. Alex Meyer, RHP (62)
  6. Kohl Stewart, RHP
  7. Nick Burdi, RHP
  8. Jorge Polanco, MI
  9. Trevor May, RHP
  10. Eddie Rosario, OF/2B

For the past three seasons, however, the well has dried up and Joe Mauer has been stuck in the middle of a baseball wasteland. Much like the NL New York team, it seems the tide is finally turning in Minnesota.

If New York has the pitching, then Minnesota enjoys having stout hitters to be thrilled about.

Right off the bat Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano are legitimate cornerstone franchise players. Both could see major time with the Twins at some point during the 2016 season.

The major concern with Minnesota’s farm comes down to health.

Buxton battled wrist injuries, Sano needed Tommy John, and Alex Meyer had to be shutdown with a shoulder issue. The great news came in the form of secondary prospects such as Jose Berrios who stepped up last year.

This formula is leading to an “on-notice” club for 2016 and a dangerous one in 2017.
