Epic sign from Yankees Opening Day loss to Blue Jays (gif)
One New York Yankees fan skipping class supplies comedic relief and irony during a disappointing start to the 2015 season.
I am sure that many young New York Yankees fans took the day off of school to catch their Opening Day matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays. From the looks of it, though, this fan and many other Yankees may have been better served staying in school, remaining at work for the day or any other decision to attend Opening Day 2015 at Yankee stadium.
Kids and adults alike have clearly been taken by storm with Opening Day, and this father and son look be be playing their role in the festivities. The look on the man’s face is one of a proud father enjoying the irony of his son’s sign, and a disappointed Yankees fan who is concerned for the team’s outlook after missing the playoffs the past two seasons.

While Alex Rodriguez’s return from a high-profile performance-enhancing drug-related suspension made the top headlines before the game, this young fan’s sign has provided some comedic relief during an otherwise disappointing performance by the home team.
A knee-jerk reaction from today’s 6-1 loss forecasts a tough season ahead for the Yankees, but it will take more than a disastrous Opening Day to label their season as doomed. Fortunately for the Bronx Bombers, A-Rod’s performance was much more promising than this fan’s grade in English class. He reached base twice in three plate appearances and supplied one of the Yankees’ only three hits on the day after receiving a standing ovation from the crowd at Yankee Stadium. It was not enough to save the Yankees from a five-run explosion by the Blue Jays in the third inning, however, as Toronto lit up New York ace Masahiro Tanaka.
Aside from their disaster of a third-inning, the Yankees’ defense and pitching looked solid. It will just be a matter of finding the offense to match that, while avoiding the big inning, that will be crucial to the New York Yankees success this season. Today it cost them a game that was never close past the third inning.
The lesson to be learned from this instance, stay in school kids. Otherwise you might end up on national television with your grammar mistakes on display for all of your teachers and the world to see, just to watch your favorite team get stomped at home to start the season.
