The Dallas Mavericks held a Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Day at Six Flags Over Texas recently. During the event, there was a question portion where someone asked Dirk Nowitzki about the incident in Saturday’s game against the Golden State Warriors involving Shaun Livingston. The incident, of course, is the questionable grab from Shaun Livingston, which some players may have taken personally.
Well, apparently, Dirk Nowitzki is not one of those players.
Dirk responded by cracking a joke like he was a star at the neighborhood BBQ. He responded that he and Livingston had talked about it afterwards and Livingston said “You know, for a white guy, it’s pretty impressive.” …..
Nailed it! Great for Dirk to take the high road on the low blow. I’m sure Shaun Livingston would like to forget this incident, but Dirk put a solid “punch-line” at the end of this story that now can be brought into conversational rotation for social gatherings.
Dirk could have easily taken this personally or refrained from comment. The NBA is better when it has this 7-foot German draining step backs, making light of controversy, and giving levity to what some could view as dirty.
