Thursday, the Rangers will wrap up the home portion of their schedule when they take on the Ottawa Senators.

When goaltender Henrik Lundqvist takes the ice for the Rangers, he will be wearing a special mask.

Lundqvist had a special mask made that will honor the New York Fire Department.

The mask was designed for the MSG Network special, The Mask with Henrik Lundqvist. Six masks were made, which will all be auctioned off for charity.

According to Steiner Sports, not only does the mask honor the fire department, it also shows off several New York landmarks.

"The mask features imagery of the New York City skyline … the Twin Towers, the Statue of Liberty, and the newly finished Freedom Tower … The mask also has a 343 on the chin piece to honor those firefighters who lost their lives as a result of 9/11. The mask also has a “Rescue 1″ 150th anniversary patch, and a Rescue 1 Fire truck. Henrik and the FDNY thought it was important to make sure the mask honored New York’s best and bravest."

It’s a great gesture by Lundqvist and the Rangers to honor those that rush to the aid of the people in New York City every day.

The Rangers are rolling as they head into the playoffs, and on Thursday, Lundqvist will being paying tribute to the city’s heroes as he takes the ice.
