Possibly the most impressive catch of day came from the stands, as a Seattle Mariners fan traded his popcorn for the chance to catch a foul ball.

A one-handed grab coming from the stands has been the top catch of the day. Los Angeles Angels third baseman David Freese hit a foul ball into the crowd during a matchup with the Seattle Mariners, and this gentleman stood up and made a highlight reel catch, without any regard for his bucket of popcorn.

The grab was an impressive one to say the least. The proud owner of a David Freese foul ball was the last person you would have expected to make the catch. In fact, he did not even show up in the picture until the last second.

If you watch closely, the man standing behind him in the gray jersey is locked in for the catch from the initial contact. At the last moment, the man in front of him stands up, extends his bucket of popcorn with one arm and steals the catch.

Anyone who has ever attended an MLB game knows how difficult it is to catch a foul ball at a baseball game, and can understand the wave of emotions that must have been going through the crowd in the immediate aftermath.

The look on the face of the Mariners fan in the grey jersey is priceless. You can see the joy in his emotions shift to a mix of astonishment and pure disappointment as he witnesses what is most likely his first catch at an MLB game grabbed, literally, from right in front of him.

The other gentleman, as well as every other fan around the him was filled with excitement for the catch. Fans can be seen running down the aisle to reward him with high-fives and plenty of praise in the aftermath. Even the fan in the grey jersey was moved to give his fellow Mariners enthusiast a congratulatory hug.

Despite his outstanding, one-handed grab, I do not see him becoming the next Henry Rowengartner and making the jump to the Major Leagues. The 12-year-old Rowengartner simply had a much more promising career ahead of him than this man, who has to be in his thirties already.

Let’s just hope that he found a nearby child to give the ball to. I am sure a young kid would find much greater enjoyment from a foul ball than a full-grown man. Who knows, the kids father may even purchase him a brand-new bucket of popcorn for the kind gesture.
