The Milwaukee Bucks are getting a new arena

The Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday publicly announced their plan to build a new $1 billion complex, including an arena, practice facility, and a lifestyle and entertainment area. The new arena will take the place of the Bradley Center. Currently, the Bradley Center is the 2nd oldest Arena in the league to have been built and not renovated. The new arena will take about two years to complete and the group hopes to have it available for the 2017 season.

This futuristic looking arena was designed by Populous from Kansas City, who designed Yankees Stadium in New York, and Eppstein Uhen, a Milwaukee-based architectural firm that had a hand in designing Miller Park. It was widely known that the Bucks were in need of a new arena, but the surprise is everything else that comes on this 30 acres of proposed development.

I know for sure that those are going to be some good looking playoff games in that new arena with Jabari Parker, Giannis Antetokoumpo and Khris Middleton lighting it up. The Bucks franchise is on the up and up these days. They recently announced their new color changes for next year, plus they found a solid head coach that is in the conversation for Coach of the Year. They had the potential Rookie of Year in Jabari Parker until the injury, which we have no reason to believe he won’t make a solid impact next year. Add to all that the emergence of Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokoumpo, and Ersan Ilysova as true starters in this league and you have a playoff berth that looks like it is bound to repeat for years to come.

Hopefully by 2017 they can get to the second round, which is something the Bucks haven’t seen in 15 years.

The development group plans to start work on this arena in the Fall 2015
