Clutch, the Houston Rockets’ mascot, went crazy Friday night hitting a fan with a cake.

The Houston Rockets are known throughout NBA circles for having the most unique in-game entertainment in the league, if you count game day promotions. Friday night their mascot, Clutch, took strides to join the ranks of obnoxious professional sports mascots–of which The Philly Phanatic obviously takes the cake (umm…pun very much intended).

During a timeout of the Rockets’ key regular season contest against San Antonio Spurs–whom they are fighting for the second seed in the West with–Clutch got a little crazy, hitting a fan in the front row with a rather large chocolate cake.

The fan was seated courtside at Toyota Center, sporting what appears to be a Spurs jersey. The jersey is of the custom variety–No. 00 with the name, “Kenny”.

Given the way Clutch went right at him and didn’t hold back, it seems probable that Kenny (let’s assume that’s the fan’s name) had been heckling Clutch.

Or maybe Clutch just really dislikes Spurs fans in general, and he decided to take out his frustrations on poor Kenny.

Kenny, not surprisingly, seemed a bit perturbed by Clutch’s antics–immediately signaling to arena security for help. But he was in enemy territory, so who knows what kind of help he received.

Either way, this rivalry got a nice little punch in the face to it Friday night, thanks to Clutch and Kenny.
