Rapper Nelly arrested on drug charges in Tennessee

St. Louis based rapper Nelly has been arrested on drug charges, in Tennessee of all places.

It looks like things are getting a little “Hot in Here” for St. Louis based rapper Nelly after he wound up in a “Dilemma” in Tennessee. If you wondered how he got popped, it is like almost every other rapper gets arrested on drug charges story.

Tour bus rolling down the high way between tour dates and performances, bus pulled over for some asinine reason, in this case for failure to display a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Fuel Tax Association (IFTA) sticker on the vehicle. Officers approach bus to rectify this egregious breaking of the law and conveiently catch the odor of marijuana.

Boom, behind bars on drug charges just like that. Well not quite just like that, the subsequent probable search after smelling the pot led to the discovery of some narcotics and weapons.

From the Times Free Press:

"Trooper Loftis, assisted by THP Sgt. Donald Jennings, then conducted a probable cause search of the bus. The troopers discovered in the sleeper area a plastic bag that contained five colored crystal-type rocks that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Further investigation revealed approximately 100 small Ziploc bags that are commonly associated with the sale of narcotics and numerous handguns, including a gold-plated 50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a 45-caliber Tarus pistol, and a 500 magnum Smith and Wesson."

Needless to say, Nelly will be getting back to St. Louis a little bit later than planned. I’ve never understood how rappers can continually decide to carry so many weapons and narcotics on themselves when traveling and put themselves in position. They’ve seen other rappers go through this but consciously decide to do it.

You might expect it from a younger rapper who is still caught up in culture, not someone who is as established as Nelly and starring on “Real Husbands of Hollywood.”
