Danny Shelton, NT, Washington

Shelton has the size (6’2”, 339 lbs) to be a real terror inside, but disappears at times when faced with a tough offensive line. The problem is, he’ll see a much higher level of play along the offensive front than he did in the Pac-12, so how will he react?

There have been some with Shelton as high as a top 10 pick, but if he’s that guy I need someone who will be abusive inside even against the best of the best. I need consistency that we haven’t seen from him and a guy who flourishes against top competition, not wilts.

The fact is that if a center stands up to him, he struggles – sometimes it even looks like he quits.

It’s great he can dominate but it’s disappointing he can’t doing it all the time.

A first round guy needs to have that consistency and needs to be about more than ‘upside’ when it comes to nose tackle.

Until Shelton shows that, first round is risky and top ten is flirting with disaster.
