Jaws’ sources says Marcus Mariota will go first overall to Buccaneers
By Ernie Padaon
Ron Jaworski’s sources has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking Marcus Mariota with the first overall selection.
For a while, Jameis Winston has been believed to be the top selection for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the first overall selection. He played his college ball in Florida and would be a great fit for the roster. The Bucs are in desperate need for a quarterback and Winston would be able to lead the team for years to come.

The rumors are starting to fly about the possibilities of the Bucs taking Marcus Mariota with their selection now. Mike Mayock just ranked Mariota as the higher rated quarterback on his list and now there is talk from Ron Jaworski that has the Buccaneers going with Mariota with the first selection.
“The latest I’m hearing now from my sources around the league, who are pretty wired in, is that he’s going to go number one now to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,” said Jaworski, via Philly Mag.
“Mariota’s stock, remember it was quiet for a while? And there’s a reason for that. There’s a lull every year until about 30 days before the draft. Now the coaches get involved. Prior to that, it’s the scouts, it’s the roadies that are filling out the paper work. Now the coaches get involved. Now team owners get involved. Now general managers get involved. So you’re starting to see, in my opinion, Winston’s stock starting to slide a little bit and Mariota’s stock starting to go up a little bit.”
Winston was in attendance for a Buccaneers charity event recently and many people have concluded that the Bucs will go with Winston with the first selection based on that appearance. Mariota wasn’t in attendance for that event, but the Buccaneers still have time to change their minds over and over again. The NFL draft is still a couple of weeks away, so there still is some time till they make their selection official.
Both quarterbacks have a lot of potential and both would make the Buccaneers a better team. At this time, Winston still seems to be the best fit for the Buccaneers on offense. He still seems like the first overall selection despite the sources from Jaws.
All the talk leading up to the draft will be about Winston and Mariota. There has already been a lot of talk surrounding Mariota and the possibilities of teams trading up to select him with the 2nd overall selection. There has also been talk about a possible slide for Mariota in the draft. Two more weeks and we will find out where everyone ends up.
