Orioles fan refuses to watch Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez bat (Photo)
One Orioles fan took a literal stand against watching A-Rod during his at bat.
The New York Yankees are on their first road swing of the year, and that means third baseman Alex Rodriguez gets to face opposing crowds for the first time since coming off suspension.
One old-timer in Baltimore, apparently decided he was going to take a stand against watching Alex Rodriguez during his at bats.
The gentleman, decked out in his black and orange Orioles gear, rose to his feet and turned and faced the crowd as A-Rod stepped to the plate.
Unfortunately for his movement, the Orioles fan was the only one standing besides the beer vendor selling fresh beverages to the fans and the lady next to him laughing at him.
Seriously, more than one at bat.
Lots of activism tends to go nowhere because of a lack of a following. This fan was leading the way, but his message wasn’t reciprocated by the thousands of people sitting around him in the left field bleachers.

In fact, some were probably peeved that they couldn’t see a man chasing home run history bat because of the guy deciding that 400 feet away, where people can barely see anyways was a good place to begin such a protest.
The guy is definitely making a statement. Sure he doesn’t have to watch A-Rod bat, especially considering the circumstances of the situation, but why not go up to grab a beer or take a leak?
Wrestling fans are accustomed to the “bathroom break match,” make Rodriguez’s plate appearances the “bathroom break at-bat.”
There are certainly better ways to not watch someone bat rather than trying to let everyone in left field know that you’re going to block their view of the game for at least three or four times during the duration of the night.
There’s being a smart and peaceful protestor, and then there’s just being an ass blocking the game from everyone else trying to watch.
