A penguin from the Newport Aquarium delivered the game to the Reds before their game against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Sometimes baseball can have some of the more random moments of any sports. With long games and 162 of them a year, sometimes teams have some unique in-game entertainment.

Facing off in the finale against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, the Cincinnati Reds received the game ball from a feathery friend before the game.

A penguin named Pablo, waddled out to the pitchers mound to drop off the game ball. No, this penguin wasn’t of the Pittsburgh variety, this penguin came from the Newport Aquarium

Even more surprisingly, Pablo had rooting interest in the Reds than his bird brethren, the St. Louis Cardinals.

When it comes to wildlife on the baseball field, it’s usually squirrels, rats or other furry creatures that get chased around the field before being removed. Those moments also usually involve mascots in some capacity.

Last season, a squirrel interrupted play between the Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies as it ran out onto the field.

Interestingly enough, the two teams continued play as the squirrel ran around the field to loud cheers from the crowd. Eventually play would be stopped as the squirrel got in the way of the pitcher and kept running around the infield.

No animals were hurt in any of these events except for the time Randy Johnson obliterated a bird with a fastball.

This time it was Pablo, the proud penguin who had permission to be on the field as he did his local Reds a solid by dropping off the game ball. Unfortunately, for the Reds, the rooting power of Pablo wasn’t enough for the win.

The march of the penguins usually goes through the arctic. On Sunday, it went through Cincinnati, Ohio.
