Anthony Davis is having one of the best seasons of anyone in the NBA and T-Wolves big man Adreian Payne is still feeling his dominance in the post.

As Anthony Davis has one of the best seasons of any big man, or anyone for that matter, in the NBA, there have been no shortage of highlight plays on the 6-foot-10 power forward’s behalf.

With names like James Harden, Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook being mention in the MVP race this season, Davis feels kind of left out despite having killer numbers for the New Orleans Pelicans. The former Kentucky big man averaged 24.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per contest.

He is the reason that this New Orleans team is gripping the eighth-place position in the Western Conference playoff race and refusing to let it go to Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

New Orleans is quite the surprise this season and Davis deserves to reap the rewards of a successful, surprising season. Well, on Monday night, he got to display some of his highlight reel stuff as the Pelicans have been under the spotlight, needing to win every game to make the playoffs.

As Minnesota Timberwolves’ rookie big man Adreian Payne went up for a monster jam from the baseline, Davis quickly recovered from being out of position and swatted the young star to the ground.

Davis made Payne look so silly, in fact, that he sent the rookie to the ground, likely to never try dunking over AD again.

It was a slight mistake by the talented rookie, who has had a solid season of 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, as he tried to make Sportscenter‘s top plays by elevating over one of the league’s top shot blockers.

This may, however, have been a payback for a block that Payne had on Davis earlier in the game that no one seems to remember after this devastating swat.

Davis for MVP.
