Mario Balotelli could be awarded Liverpool’s player of the year for the 2014-2015 season, and it’d be all thanks to Manchester United fans.
The Italian hasn’t exactly had the best debut season for the Reds and having signed for a fee of £16 million, Balotelli’s stats of just four goals in 25 appearances in all competitions virtually make him a flop signing.
It’s even reached a point where manager Brendan Rodgers simply isn’t selecting him in his matchday squad as an “illness’ has seen Balotelli play just 55 minutes of action in Liverpool’s last eight games.
And Balotelli isn’t exactly popular with Manchester United fans so they’re obviously loving his form for their rivals. When Manchester City took the lead against United this weekend, Balotelli tweeted this:
The final score ended 4-2 to United so their fans had the last laugh. And now they’re campaigning to make everyone ironically vote for Balotelli as Liverpool’s player of the year.
It just takes a few clicks but you can help make this campaign come to life. Imagine that? Balotelli as Liverpool’s player of the year over the likes of Coutinho, Sterling and Henderson? Let’s make it happen.
