NBA Championship Game

(2) Atlanta Hawks vs. (5) San Antonio Spurs: Interesting. A one-and-done tournament and we still end up with one team from the Western Conference and one team from the Eastern Conference. WHY DID WE EVEN DO THIS?! Oh yeah, because this is the most fair way to do this, and sometimes the predicted results happen anyways despite upsets.

So in the end, we have two teams that are all about team play and depending on the unit as a whole rather than individuals to be successful. One of these teams has been doing it 18 years while the other just started doing this about a year ago. Which one do you think will win?

The San Antonio Spurs are battle-tested veterans who have seen it all and done it all. A win-or-go-home situation might raise an eyebrow from Tim Duncan, but it won’t shake him to his core. The Atlanta Hawks are a team in every sense of the word, but they are inexperienced on what it takes to close out a championship title, a feat that the Spurs have accomplished five times in the past 18 years.

Sure, the Spurs defense has dipped a bit from ranking 6th in points allowed per game last year to now ranking 10th this year, but they are still humming along on offensive. They rank fourth in the league in points per game at 103.1, and they are fourth best in overall field goal percentage at 46.6 percent.

With those sustained numbers even at their advanced age, they still have enough resolve and energy in the tank to win their first back-to-back titles in franchise history. Congratulations tangent timeline San Antonio Spurs!
