Sitting in the first few rows along the first or third base line can be hazardous for anyone, but at least fans have a couple of seconds to get out of the way of foul balls. Cameramen don’t quite have the same luxury.

This cameraman in Tuesday night’s game between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles experienced the potential dangers of his position first-hand.

A line drive off the bat of Didi Gregorius came towards the fortunate cameraman at an almost impossible angle. Miraculously, he was able to move just a couple of inches out of the way while hanging on to the expensive piece of equipment, all while getting a great shot.

Following a well-struck line drive with a heavy camera is hard enough without the possibility of a baseball coming at your head at any moment. If Gregorius’ foul was just a few inches down, the cameraman would have a classic GIF but the network that employs him would have been out a few grand.

Gregorius hasn’t been able to make that kind of hard contact too often in the early season. The 25-year-old is batting .154 and facing the unenviable task of taking over for Derek Jeter as New York’s shortstop.
