What can we expect from Teddy Bridgewater?

We are talking today about what we can expect in the 2015 football season from Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. It is not going to be real relevant to the discussion today, but at first we can take a quick look at what Bridgewater did for last season. In ESPN Standard leagues Bridgewater finished as the #24 overall quarterback, but he did not take over as the starter until week three and missed one more game for a total of playing in 13 games.

I think this is mostly not relevant because last year he played with the watchful eye of offensive coordinator Norv Turner holding him back and keeping the reigns on the young rookie. It is also not relevant as the Vikings have totally revamped their WR corps with the addition of Mike Wallace. They will also have fellow speedster Charles Johnson coming off a fairly productive second half of the season last year and having some nice chemistry with Bridgewater already. When you add in Cordarrelle Patterson regardless of how bad his season was last year you have a pretty explosive group of WRs for Bridgewater to throw to.

I also think a great deal of Teddy Bridgewater’s value will obviously hinge on the future of Adrian Peterson. I am not even going to pretend to know what will happen with him as the story changes very often, but if somehow he ends up back with the Vikings and starting it should boost the fantasy value of Bridgewater.

I am not sure that even with Peterson I am quite ready to anoint Bridgewater as a sure-fire QB1 for fantasy leagues next year, but I will say that I am a bit of a gambler when it comes to fantasy leagues and I will be reaching for him as my backup QB. I will also be sending out some offers in my dynasty league to acquire his services. Norv Turner is a good enough offensive coordinator to bring out the best in Bridgewater and I believe he will utilize the strengths in his game and make him the best QB that he can.

I will not be certain of where I will be drafting Teddy Bridgewater, but as of right now I can be sure that he is a guy I will target in the later rounds and try to beat people to him by a round or two. He is not a guy that I will shoot the farm trying to draft, but with is weapons and if he does get Peterson back I will be expecting a pretty solid year from him with pretty decent upside. Draft him late with mild confidence.
