Tyus Jones, the 6ft 1in point guard for the Duke Blue Devils, today declared he will enter himself in the 2015 NBA Draft. Tyus recently had his draft stock serge after the NCAA tournament where he poured in a game high 24 points to help the Duke Blue Devils secure their National Championship against the Wisconsin Badgers.
Tyus Jones grew up in Minnesota where he went for a few weeks after the championship to consult his family on the decision, as well as Minnesota Timberwolves center Kevin Garnett. According to the Star Tribune, Garnett was key in helping Jones make the best decision.
"“[Garnett] just told me to enjoy it all,” Jones said Monday from Target Field. “Enjoy it all, don’t rush anything and just make the most of every opportunity that you get.”"
Kevin Garnett went straight from high school to the NBA in 1995.
His high school draft reports had him as one of the best players coming into college and his skill set is enough in the right areas to foresee him eventually making an impact in the league. He has a 3 point shot which is a skill required of NBA point guards in the league.

It is difficult to pinpoint a fit for Tyus Jones as the league is spoiled with young talented Point Guards. For his first year he will probably be in a developmental roll under another another more established player.
Draft Express has him currently going 21st to the Dallas Mavericks. Other teams around this region in picks are Toronto, Chicago, Portland, and Washington.
Of the Four teams it seems Washington is in the most dire-straits for a back up point guard. Washington currently has journeyman Ramon Sessions serving as their back-up. It is plausible that Tyus could surpass him in the line-up if he proved his shot was reliable and he kept his turnovers down.
Washington is a good team on the fast-break 6th in league at fast-break points and 5th in fast-break efficiency via Teamrankings. Having another guard that could pull-up from 3 point line or distribute on the break would add an extra deadly element to a Wizards team with a wealth of young talent.
Tyus Jones has a wide skill set though which essentially means that his potential and risks teams are willing to take hinges on what he shows in summer league and in his limited minutes.
