Marcus Mariota is one of the top quarterbacks in the upcoming NFL Draft and the St. Louis Rams are going to be in Eugene Thursday to see if he’s a good fit.

Having one of the most impressive seasons of any player in college football, Marcus Mariota played himself into a top-10 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, likely to be coveted by many teams. The former Oregon Ducks star quarterback has drawn major interest from a handful of teams, including the St. Louis Rams.

Jeff Fisher is looking to add another solid quarterback to his roster in case Nick Foles doesn’t work out. This offseason, the head coach saw his former quarterback, Sam Bradford, traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for a young up-and-comer in Foles.

The main reason Bradford was traded was because of his lengthy list of injuries that he seemingly missed every season for. Bradford has the talent to be a great NFL quarterback, but the Rams ran out of patience and grabbed another guy through trade.

However, there might be another trade coming up that would place the Rams higher up in the draft order as they are, right now, sitting at No. 10 overall. If Fisher and his staff want to snag a top talent like Mariota in the draft, they’re going to have to trade up to get him as he likely won’t be around past the ninth pick in the draft.

Heading to Oregon to watch the young star throw and do some other drills is probably the best indicator of whether they’re seriously interested in him. Which, in this case, they seem to be.

Getting an up close and personal look at the guy who passed for nearly 4,500 yards with 42 touchdowns and just four interceptions as a junior will give Fisher and his crew a good idea of how good he really is and if he’s worth the risk.

The Rams could realistically trade their pick, along with Foles, up to the top-three for a chance to draft Mariota or Jameis Winston.

In my opinion, Mariota is the most talented and versatile quarterback in the draft and I would be shocked to see him fall outside the top five.

It’s hard to pass up on a guy who totaled over 5,000 yards and 57 combined touchdowns last year. The Rams are quickly finding that out.
