I like crab legs just about as much as anyone else. Nothing like going to Joes Crab Shack and getting a bucket full of crab legs and lobsters and just going to town on them. There’s one person on earth that I know that likes crab legs more than me and that’s Jameis Winston, and his love for crab legs is one of the reasons why he is the most controversial players in the draft. The question about Winston is his maturity and if he’s fixed his off the field issues. Winston is more than likely going to be the first player selected in the draft to the Bucs. The major question is how should we value Winston in rookie drafts?

College Production
As a sophomore (age 19) Winston passed for 4,057 yards 40 TD and 10 INTs and led Florida State to a national championship. The following season as a red-shirt sophomore (age 20) Winston passed for 3,907 yards 25 TDs and 18 INTs. Winston had two solid years of college production. His sophomore year was incredible with a 4 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio and throwing for over 4,000 yards.
Player Metrics
Winston is 6’4 231 LBS he is a big QB. He has the size to see over his offensive line and is less likely to have passes batted down at the line of scrimmage. He’s a thick QB, which will help absorb a lot of the hits he’s going to take from pass rushers. His hands are big enough at 9 3/8, so fumbles and passes slipping out of hands are less likely to happen.
Film Review
Winston operates out of a pro-style offense, which is a major positive. He has a strong arm, and he can place the ball into tight windows. Winston is very good at going through his progressions and finding the open receiver. He has a good feel for pressure and is very good at stepping up in the pocket to make the throw. He will take chances that most quarter backs won’t, which will lead to a lot of big plays. He’s not the greatest decision maker, which will lead to interceptions.
Player Value
The odds are in Winston’s favor to be the first player selected in the draft. Which would make him going to the Bucs, and he would be teamed up with Mike Evans, and Austin Saferian-Jenkins as his main pass catchers. He will have a lot of talent in the backfield with him with Doug Marten and Charles Sims. Of course he would need to be drafted by the Bucs at #1 for all this to happen, but the odds are very good that his will happen. I have Winston as my top QB in this year’s draft. In rookie drafts I have Winston going anywhere from a late-1st to a mid-2nd. I prefer taking him in the 2nd round, because there’s a lot of talent at running back and receiver in this draft and you can find another quarterback cheaper via trade. If you are desperate for a QB then I wouldn’t be upset if you spent a late-1st.
