The NBA playoffs tip off today, and things get underway with the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors at noon.

After a year of battling to get to the top of the NBA, the playoffs are tipping off and 16 teams are left standing in their quest to win the NBA Finals.

Two of those teams still standing are the Washington Wizards and the Toronto Raptors — two teams who crept into the postseason last season. This year is different though as the Wizards and Raptors are both much better than they were a year before, and they’re going to both be bringing their best in the first game of their series.

Wizards vs Raptors isn’t a playoff matchup we thought we’d see, but thanks to the seasons that stars like John Wall, Kyle Lowry and others have had, both teams are on the rise in a big way. Paul Pierce is no stranger to playing the Raptors in the first-round, as he did so last year with the Brooklyn Nets.

He traded black for blue in the offseason and while he may be in a different uniform, Pierce’s journey to the NBA Finals beings in a familiar place — but hopefully for him, won’t end in the same way.
