Andrew Shaw grabs Mike Ribeiro from bench and gets punched (Video)
Blackhawks center Andrew Shaw tried to give his teammate some help along the boards as held onto the Predators Mike Ribeiro. Ribeiro then gave Shaw a punch in return.
Battling along the boards for a loose puck in hockey can get pretty physical.

When it happens in front of a bench with opposing players, some cheap shots could be had.
Against the Blackhawks, Mike Ribeiro was battling Jonathan Toews along the Blackhawks bench for the puck.
As he was trying to corral the puck, Blackhawks center Andrew Shaw appeared to reach into play and grab a hold of Ribeiro to prevent him from controlling the punk.
With emotions rolling high, Ribeiro responded with a big right hand to Shaw on the bench as his stick swung around and made the rest of the players duck.
While it was certainly a cheap shot by Ribeiro, what Shaw did wasn’t right either as he interfered with play on the ice.
Even more impressively, a penalty wasn’t called on either side after the play.
Ironically enough, during his next shift, Ribeiro was called for a holding penaly against Toews.
Emotions might be running high in the playoffs between the two division rivals, but there is no room for cheap shots or cheating in any professional sport. Also swinging a stick wildly probably is not a good idea either.
With this just being game three, Ribeiro and Shaw will probably cross paths plenty of times before the series is over.
Let’s just hope it’s done in a legal manner with both players on the ice.
