With all the moves the Eagles have made at quarterback this offseason, who will be the starter in Week 1?

The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they were going to add yet another quarterback to the mix for the 2015 season. The Eagles off season moves have made some question the decision making of head coach Chip Kelly and others praise him. The alteration of his college spread offense at Oregon to form a playbook that requires a specific skill set in his quarterback has led to multiple strange additions.

The latest of which and perhaps the most curious is the signing of Tim Tebow.

Tebow is now the fifth quarterback the Eagles have on their depth chart before training camp has even started. Who will the Eagles start on day one though? You have Sam Bradford, whom you just traded away Nick Foles for. Mark Sanchez, who got to start 8 games last season after Foles failed to stay healthy. Little known GJ Kinne, who has yet to play a snap as a NFL QB. And finally Tim Tebow, who hasn’t be able to land a starting job due to his poor throwing mechanics and mediocre performance as a starting quarterback for the Broncos.

I can’t see the Eagles starting Kinne. While he did have some success as a quarterback for Tulsa, the 37 year old just doesn’t have the experience to be a starting QB. Besides, it seems the Eagles just want him to be a practice quarterback for now.

The biggest upside to any quarterback among the many is Sam Bradford. His experience at Oklahoma and success in college led Chip Kelly and company to believe he can transition pretty easily into Kelly’s spread offense. Especially with Bradford’s ability to get the ball out and get it out quick, which is instrumental to any success the Eagles will have on the offensive side of the ball.

As shocking as this news is, Tim Tebow probably doesn’t have the ability to start in Week 1. People swear he has improved his throwing mechanics. So maybe he can actually throw a long ball for once. But until that is seen, he will remain on the bench. Of course with Tebow’s luck, he will probably see an injury to Bradford and Sanchez will perform poorly and then he will get placed as the starting quarterback by default in Week 5. Until then, it’s no dice for Tebow as a starter.

Like Tebow, Barkley was a stud in college before struggling to make the transition as an NFL quarterback. He has put up absolutely horrible numbers (61% completion rate, 0 touchdowns, 4 interceptions) in his two short seasons with the Eagles.

More likely than not, Mr. Mark Sanchez will be the starter come Week 1. He is the only one who really knows the offense or seen any success under Chip Kelly out of the five. If he can continue pumping out consistent play while not turning the ball over, there is no reason he can’t find success initially as the starter in Week 1.

Of course this is all up to the mastermind behind signing five quarterbacks. Maybe Chip Kelly will do something like baseball teams do with their pitching staff and go through a starting rotation each week, have middle relievers if his starter gets tired, and throw Tebow in their as a closer if they need some late game magic. As the weeks continue to pass and training camp gets closer and closer, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sanchez is out their leading the Eagles on the field in Week 1.
