The New Orleans Saints Twitter account mentioned the time frame for the NFL schedule release.
With the NFL Draft creeping up at the end of the month, with league meetings being held and suspensions being lifted, and with TIM TEBOW signing somewhere, a fan can loose sight of what is actually important: the NFL schedule release.
Fans got a bit of an apertivo with the release of the NFL preseason schedule, but soon they will get the full course, according to the New Orleans Saints.
Time Update: NFL now says the schedule will be released at 7 pm CT tomorrow

Of course, the opponents and matchups have already been determined for every team. They were determined the moment the regular season ended last year. The only thing the schedule determines is when each game will be and in what order they will be in.

It is always a
masochistic
fun exercise to see how many times an NFC East team is put on prime time. I receive a free dinner from my buddy whenever both New York Giants v. Dallas Cowboys games are put into prime time slots, and I’m fairly confident again this year.
Another important determination for the schedule is how the NFL Kickoff Game will end up. As the defending Super Bowl Champions, the New England Patriots will be hosting the NFL Kickoff, and they square off against a number of high profile opponents. Many of these, however, are slated to be road games for the Patriots, like their matchups with the Cowboys, the Giants, the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts.
This leaves a handful of options for the opening kickoff. Moving the matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers seems like something the NFL would do for their opening kickoff, but its possible they decide to move the game against the Philadelphia Eagles to the top spot.
In any event, teams will soon be angry at the placement of their obligatory Thursday Night Game and the earliness their bye week, but beyond that the schedule release just serves as a schedule to find excuses not to work.
One must also wonder if the Saints were supposed to release the timing of the schedule, or if it was supposed to be sprung on an unsuspecting public. That’s what they do with the bad news, so why not try it for the good news?
[UPDATE:] The NFL announced that the schedules will be released at 8 pm ET on Tuesday night.
