Whenever a big player is available to be had, Daryl Morey is always doing whatever he can to get in on the conversation.

The Rockets have been linked to Rondo before and he could certainly help run the show in Houston next to James Harden.

Chemistry might not be as big of a concern, considering that Rondo played with Josh Smith in high school and the two are good friends.

In Houston, the Rockets have Patrick Beverly at the point guard spot, but he has struggled to remain healthy and on the court. The Rockets could certainly look to upgrade that spot and Rondo, Harden, Smith and Howard would certainly be title contenders in a loaded Western Conference.

The one difficult task for the Rockets in this scenario is the cap space. Rondo is a free agent this summer and the cap this year is expected to be around $67 million. The Rockets have over $65 million on the books.

The team would have to find a way to clear cap space along with finding a way to make enough room to sign Josh Smith as well.

The NBA salary cap is expected rise to almost $100 million in a few years, but that doesn’t help Houston this year.

Daryl Morey is one of the smartest general managers and can wheel and deal with the best of them. Houston has several movable contracts, but doing so would completely strip them of any depth.

Still, there isn’t a challenge that Morey won’t take on.
. Southwest Division. Western Conference. Houston Rockets. 3. player. 169
