The Carolina Panthers are playing their first Thanksgiving game this upcoming season and took offense when one writer from USA Today said the NFL ruined the day with an awful slate of games.

Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly and the Carolina Panthers were awarded their first Thanksgiving day game in franchise history when the NFL released the schedule for the 2015 season, but not everyone is happy about that.

For The Win’s Chris Chase wrote the NFL ruined Thanksgiving with an awful slate of games that includes the Panthers playing the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles playing the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers playing the Chicago Bears.

He writes, “the NFL went to the dregs of the schedule for this year’s annual run of thee games. It’s so bad, we should all move to Canada.”

Does that slate of games make you think the NFL ruined Thanksgiving?

Yeah, me neither.

The only way the NFL can ruin Thanksgiving is if Roger Goodell came into my house and dropped my turkey in the toilet, but other than that, you’d be hard pressed to ruin one of the best days on the calendar.

The writer also adds, “making Bears-Packers the Thanksgiving night game is the most unconscionable NFL decision.” and calls it a “retread rivalry game” and a “better sleep-inducer than Ambien-stuffed turkey.”

Yeah, that’s not a gross overreaction at all.

Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks the assertion that the NFL ruined Thanksgiving because the Panthers twitter account had some fun at the expense of the article with this great response after the writer said, “The Panthers are one of two NFL teams never to be afforded the honor of playing on Thanksgiving, which means you’ve never seen them play on Turkey Day. I recommend keeping it that way.”

Bravo.
