Bartolo Colon is 41 years old and weighs 283 pounds.
But the New York Mets pitcher can still move a little bit, as as evidenced by his chase-down of A.J. Pierzysnki on Thursday.
Colon completely froze Pierzysnki with a pickoff attempt and decided to take matters into his own hands and tag out the catcher himself instead of throwing it over to first.
Check out Colon’s impressive play below:
What an outstanding start to the season Colon his having. He became MLB’s first pitcher to reach four wins on the season Thursday, he’s posted a stellar 2.77 ERA and he showed the world that he has wheels too.
At the same time, you have to feel bad for Pierzysnki in this spot. I mean, getting chased down by Colon can’t be a good feeling. We understand that Pierzynski’s up there in age himself (he’s 38), but he should still be able to outrun Colon.
Colon’s Mets toppled Pierzysnki’s Braves on Thursday, giving New York its 11th straight victory.
