The Asking Price Will Be Way Too High

The Titans have shown interest in Mariota, and so a trade offer would have to be enough to convince them to move on from possibly taking the player they see as a franchise savior. The Browns would likely have to at least give up both of their first round choices, plus another high-round draft pick this year (2nd round, no. 43).

That is the minimum haul the Titans and their GM Ruston Webster would command, and there is a decent chance the Titans would also ask for picks in future drafts. With a team like the Brown in need of multiple choices both this year and in the future, it may be unwise to throw away the potential for improvement beyond Mariota

The San Diego Chargers have a proven top-15 (likely top-10) NFL quarterback to offer in Philip Rivers. The Eagles have a plethora of talent on either side of the ball. And the New York Jets have the sixth pick and a number of young defensive stars that may interest the Titans in the future. The Browns’ appeal is their two first round choices in the draft, but it may be more valuable in their hands than as a trade chip.
