The Capitals vs Islanders are meeting in Game 5 tonight, and it’s looking like this could be an epic first round series.

The NHL Playoffs are well underway and the first round series of Capitals vs Islanders is already looking like it might be the best series we have in this round.

It’s been back and forth on the ice, but it’s the tension within the fan bases that make this such a great matchup. The Capitals have one of, if not the best player on the planet. That makes it confusing as to why they have yet to win a Stanley Cup, as it would seem like a natural fit given Alex Ovechkin’s presence.

Then again, the Islanders are fully invested in this playoff run as the fan base has seen so many lows over the past twenty years that being good again is not only new, but it’s exciting and unreal. Both of these fan bases need this series, but only one will get it. The big question is who will move closer in Game 4 and take control of the series?
