There are many questions surrounding Johnny Manzielās future in Cleveland, but Browns general manger Ray Farmer has deniedĀ rumors that they have been shopping the former Heisman winner and last yearāsĀ first round pick.
With Manziel still on the roster, I would not expect the teamās GM to openly admit to such a thing, so I would not read too far into his denial. Regardless, the team does appear sincere in their support of their high-profile backup quarterback following his recent stint in rehab, as they should, given him taking all the right steps after a rough first year in Cleveland.
"āWe support the young man, that he took steps that he needed to take, and at the end of the day, we realize that heās a part of our organization and weāre moving forward,ā Farmer told NFL.com. āHe said it best, you know, heās going to do his best to show and not talk about it. Iām probably in that camp as well. Letās just see what happens.ā"
The key part of FarmerāsĀ statement is, āLetās just see what happens.ā
That is essentially saying that in no way are they positive that ManzielĀ is their quarterback of the future. Given his on and off the field struggles, trading himĀ remains a viable option for the Browns, and they should absolutely take a look at what value he has on the trading block.
Here are five teams that could take a chance on Johnny Manziel:
