5 teams that would take Johnny Manziel
The Denver Broncos are a Super Bowl contender with a future Hall of Fame quarterback in Peyton Manning likely playing in his final season, so most people would think they should focus their offseason on winning now.
However, it would be foolish not to take a look at their future options at quarterback. I seriously doubt that the Broncos organization views current backup Brock Osweiler as face of the franchise material. Manziel meanwhile, was a decorated college player and still has great potential if placed in the right situation.
Does he fit Denver’s offense perfectly?
Absolutely not, but a year of experience learning under an NFL great like Manning could be just the thing to turn his career around. Manziel’s biggest issues are his mental makeup, and Manning is essentially a coach when he is out on the football field.
I cannot imagine a much better situation for Manziel to land, besides the Philadelphia Eagles perhaps, and one team to be named later. The Eagles are a great fit for him to succeed now, but the Broncos are an opportunity for him to take a year out of the spotlight and improve his game, exactly what the young quarterback needs.
With pick No. 28 in this year’s NFL draft, the team could very well be in win-now mode and take a tight end or wide receiver to give Manning more weapons. If the Cleveland Browns offered up a second rounder to go with Manziel for the pick, though, it would defintely be a trade worth looking at for Denver.
