What Can We Expect From Newly Signed Titans WR Hakeem Nicks?

Well according to Mike Garafolo on Twitter the Titans will be signing journeyman WR Hakeem Nicks.

You can add Hakeem Nicks to a large group of players that the Titans have who all are over 35-years-old or play like they are. I am not sure exactly what the Titans saw in Hakeem Nicks that would suggest that he would be a good fit for them. Nicks struggled to put up any kind of numbers much less fantasy worthy numbers while playing for one of the league’s better quarterbacks in Andrew Luck. Catching passes from Zach Mettenberger is unlikely to make him any better than what he was able to do with the Colts.

I think I saw someone say that the Titans may have fared better had they signed Stevie Nicks and truth be known I think I would rather roster her than Hakeem on my fantasy teams next year. The good news is not everyone agrees with me on that sentiment. There are always fantasy players in your leagues that are willing to give an old has-been like Nicks another ‘shot” so to speak. If you own him in a keeper league or heaven forbid if you own him in a dynasty league now is the time to try to capitalize on this news and move him while his name is hot.

If you can find some one who is willing to give you anything of any kind of worth whatsoever I believe that you would win that trade. I would even consider moving him for a last round dynasty league pick and hope that I could land a rookie with some hype as opposed to starting the season with Nicks on my fantasy roster.

You can safely avoid Nicks in any and all leagues unless he shows some promise and even then I would be highly weary of adding him to my team. There are just certain players that I don’t trust in fantasy football no matter what form they are packaged in and I have had Hakeem Nicks burn me enough that he is a player I would not own period.

As a Titans fan it makes me very sad that they would waste the money to sign him. Add him to a list of Shonn Greene, Harry Douglas and Anthony Fasano and it just kind of makes you wonder what is it the Titans are trying to prove with all of these guys who have seen their better days behind them. I love the story of a good comeback type of player, but I don’t love them enough that I want to go out and round-up all of the washed up players I can afford and hope one of them emerges as fantasy worthy. Safely avoid Nicks on all fantasy fronts moving forward and here is to hoping that the Titans can get some major value out of this years #2 overall NFL Draft Pick.
