Tim Duncan Will Play and Win Forever

by Andy Liu (@AndyKHLiu) — Hardwood Paroxysm

Everyone jokes about it. They casually opine that Tim Duncan, a San Antonio Spurs legend in his 55th NBA season, will play forever. As he sunk jumper, floater, and hook shots over DeAndre Jordan on Wednesday night, we joked. Little do we know that there is always a tiny kernel of truth in all jokes. Tim Duncan will survive David Robinson, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Ben Simmons, Seventh Woods, and LeBron James Jr.

Tim Duncan will still move his feet well enough to get to spots on defense. His anticipatory skills will make up for the lack of athleticism and his length and girth will take care of the rest. Duncan will develop that corner three-pointer, spacing the floor well enough so that more athletic forwards can dish and slash into the middle. As the game evolves, so will Tim Duncan. He is both quicksand and the Smoke Monster. You cannot escape him, nor can the rest of the NBA.
