Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd was slightly less dignified in his celebration of the team’s first playoff win Saturday night.

Jason Kidd–with his tight, clean suit game (minus a tie) and clean baby face–is the epitome of new-age basketball coach. On the surface, at least, the on-the-surface is as important the Xs and Os and interactive elements of coaching a basketball team.

Emotion and passion are not to be worn on the sleeve. Then again, this notion has often been faulty, and cannot be practically lived out for any coach. Kidd himself has had more than one outburst on the sideline in his first two seasons as an NBA head coach.

In other words, it’s not exactly out of nowhere that Jason Kidd showed some emotion after he drew up the perfect play to secure his Milwaukee Bucks‘ first playoff win against the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference quartefinals thanks to Jerryd Bayless.

The 92-90 win deserved a celebration for a franchise which has been frustrated for quite some time, and almost moved before a new ownership group–led by Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry–took control from longtime owner Herb Kohl just over a year ago.

After the ownership change, the Bucks got aggressive in chasing Kidd, who had just one season of NBA experience under his belt but showed promise in that season as the kind of coach who get the most out of his players.

He did in 2014-15 in his first season with Milwaukee despite losing No. 2 overall pick Jabari Parker in December to a torn ACL and little other depth around the “Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has shown improvement even from his outstanding rookie season under Kidd.

The best part of the video may be the fact 42-year-old got up, exhibiting the kind of hops he hadn’t used since early in his playing career.
