Comme c’est drôle!

Following Sunday’s game 6 win over the Ottawa Senators, the Canadiens decided to play a prank on goalie Carey Price. Price, who helped the Habs to a 2-0 victory with a complete game shutout, was the victim of the timeless, classic prank: the silent treatment.

Before Price got to the dressing room, Canadiens forward Brandon Prust says to the rest of the team, “nobody talk to Pricey when he gets here.” Price proceeds to enter the Habs dressing room and sit down at his locker. Instead of welcoming him with hugs and cheers, the Habs ignore Price, and just silently continued removing their gear. After a few awkward seconds, Price looks around and says, “yeah!” causing his teammates to break into celebration.

Price’s reaction is fantastic.

While there are other, better pranks the Canadiens could have played, the silent treatment is a good option for short notice situations. Maybe, given more time to plan, Price will have some surprise waiting for him before game 1 of the next round.

This is not the first time the team has pulled a prank on Price, though. A few weeks ago, when he broke the all-time Canadiens record for wins in a season, he had a towel full of shaving cream shoved in his face by teammate Alexei Emelin.

In addition to handling pranks incredibly well, Price is also a pretty fantastic goalie. His performance on Saturday was especially impressive, saving all 43 shots on goal in a 2-0 shut out. Saturday was the first time the Senators were shut out all season.

Thanks to the win, the Canadiens advance to play either the Tampa Bay Lightning or Detroit Redwings. The Redwings currently lead the series 3-2.

If the Habs want to give Montreal, not to mention Canada in general, its first Stanley Cup since 1993, it will need Price to continue his impressive streak.
