The Washington Redskins are under scrutiny for their name, but they may become relevant again thanks to the idea of relocation.

The Washington Redskins are probably the least popular team in America thanks to their racist name that Daniel Snyder refuses to change. But they’re still popular somewhere in America and it’s unsurprisingly the ever-so liberal state of Virginia

According to TMZ, Governor Terry McAuliffe wants the Washington Redskins to move from their current home in the nation’s capital to Virginia — their ‘true home’.

First of all, just what in the actual hell is Virginia being the Redskins true state supposed to mean? Maybe it’s that they play so close, practice there from time to time and have a large following in the state. Even though the Redskins are embattled in Washington at the moment, the NFL isn’t a league that likes to move their franchises round a lot and that’s something that could squash any talks of relocation right off the bat.

Right now, the priority seems to be moving a franchise to Los Angeles and that’s a void that the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders looks to be filling.

Next to Los Angeles, moving a team to Canada or England would likely be next up on the docket for the NFL, with Virginia being pretty far down the list. Then again, if there’s a following there, that helps grease the wheels but if a stadium were to b build then that could speed up the process of relocation.
It’s no secret that no one likes FedEx Field or the disgusting surface they play on, and moving to a new stadium is something that Daniel Snyder might not mind.

He’s a guy who likes nice things and likes overpaying for them — but if the fine people of Virginia would pay for his stadium then that’s an even sweeter deal. All of this is based off the governor saying he wants the team there, which is hardly proof that the team is moving.

But the Redskins could end up turning this name change controversy into a new stadium — which is so Daniel Synder.
