Dwight Howard got away with a shove before rattling home an awesome putback dunk on Tuesday night.

They call him Superman. It’s in part because he is an absolute freak athlete for his size. But Superman may also be used in the case of Dwight Howard because, like Clark Kent, he can get away with being someone he’s not and then simply fly away.

That’s basically what happened in the third quarter of the Houston Rockets‘ first-round playoff matchup Tuesday night against the in-state rival Dallas Mavericks.

You saw that shove, didn’t you? Pretty egregious stuff, right?

Apparently not to the officials refereeing the game.

After setting a screen at the top of the game and having James Harden discard it to take a 3-pointer, Howard simply comes running through the lane like a train detached from its anchor.

It may be that he never really noticed the sad Mavericks player whom he simply discarded. Or it may be that he simply figured he could get away with a not-so tame shove.

Either way, the follow up dunk was monstrous, more reminiscent of the hulk than Superman. And the Hulk can fly too, so maybe Howard needs a new nickname.
