49ers to introduce first-ever alternate uniforms on Thursday
The 49ers have one of the most iconic uniforms in all of sports and have changed little since the team’s inception in 1946, a surprising fact considering the current trend of seemingly hundreds of alternate and retro options. However, this about to change on Thursday when, the 49ers have announced, the unveiling of a new alternate uniform for the 2015 season, according to Pro Football Talk.
While the team wore retro jerseys for a couple games this year, they plan to expand their wardrobe with this new addition of an alternate jersey, but the change doesn’t seem necessary. The crimson jerseys topped by the golden helmets are littered throughout some of the greatest moments in NFL history, especially during the 1980s. The glimmering 49ers symbol on the side of the helmet.
This seems like a move to keep up with the current trends and another thing for the 49ers to sell to a ravenous fan base eager for more official NFL merchandise. Furthermore, not all jersey alternates are bad. I rather enjoy the plethora of college uniforms (Oregon) and some of the NFL options are not bad.
I even like watching the Steelers play in those retro bumblebee uniforms (they are so absurd and distracting that it makes me laugh). However, I think the 49ers are better off sticking with their
