Adrian Peterson said “it would be nice” to play for the Dallas Cowboys.

The NFL draft will be here on Thursday evening and we should get a clearer picture on what will happen with Adrian Peterson. Peterson is still hoping that he will be traded to a new roster at some point this offseason and most likely during the NFL Draft. One of the teams that he has high on his priority list is the Dallas Cowboys. He would love to get a chance to play for Dallas.

“It would be nice,” Peterson told Dallas’ WFAA-TV while in attendance for the Houston Rockets’ closeout 103-94 victory against the Mavericks on Tuesday night. “I’ve got family here, my dad’s here. But I’m under contract, so we’ll see.”

The Minnesota Vikings do not want to trade their star running back and are looking to keep him on the roster. They have been standing their ground since he has been reinstated into the league.

“We can just end the Adrian Peterson stuff,” Spielman told reporters at the team’s pre-draft news conference. “Our position has not changed. We have no interest in trading Adrian Peterson.”

Peterson is still holding out hope though and the Vikings could looking to raise the trade price. We will see how the NFL Draft plays out in the next couple of days and we should get a clear picture. The Cowboys could take a running back early in the draft and that will take them out of the running for a possible trade for Peterson. If the Cowboys skip a running back early, then the talk and rumors will flow with Dallas as a big possibility to make a move for Peterson.

Currently the Cowboys have a stable of running backs of Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle leading the way. They will need to add a playmaker to that group of backs. They have been mentioned as possible suitors for top draft prospects Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon in the first round. The Cowboys have been mentioned with all of the top backs in the draft. What direction will they go though? Will they make their selection early or will they wait till later in the draft to address the issue? Will they wait to see what the price tag is for Adrian Peterson?

Imagine Peterson with that offensive line in Dallas. GAME OVER.
